Why choose Thai Yoga Therapy?

This is a therapy system that will achieve powerful results for the client.

For The Client:

According to Ayurvedic science, there is an extensive network of energy lines running throughout the body. It is through the therapy and stretching of this network of energy lines that Thai Yoga Therapy releases tension. By allowing energy to flow more freely, the therapy works to alleviate problematic conditions such as lower back pain, arthritis, headaches, digestive difficulties, menstrual problems, and stress-related conditions.

Promoting this free flow of energy also works to restore balance and create a deep state of relaxation and well-being for both the client and practitioner.

The Foundation of Thai Therapy

The theoretical foundation of Thai therapy is based on the concept of invisible energy lines running through the body. The Indian origin and influence is obvious here since the background of this theory clearly lies in Yoga philosophy. Yoga philosophy states that life energy (called Prana) is absorbed with the air we breathe and with the food we eat. Along a network of energy lines, the Prana Nadis, the human being is then supplied with this vital energy. Out of these energy lines Thai therapy has selected 10 mainlines on which there are especially important acupressure points. Massaging these lines and points makes it possible to treat a whole range of diseases or to relieve pain. The 10 mainlines are sufficient to conduct practical treatment for the whole body and its internal organs. Disturbances in the flow of energy result in an insufficient supply of Prana, which will in turn lead to sickness. Working on the energy lines with therapy can break the blockades, stimulate the free flow of Prana, and help to restore general well-being.

The Ayurvedic Link

The therapeutic basis of Thai Yoga Therapy is strongly rooted in the Indian healing tradition of Ayurveda. The word ayurveda derives from two Sanskrit words: ayur, meaning "life," and veda, meaning "knowledge." As such, ayurveda functions as a guide to the proper maintenance of life.

According to Ayurveda, each individual is composed of one or a combination of the three doshas (elements) of vata (air-ether), pitta (fire-water) and kapha (earth-water). Tapping into the ancient knowledge of the tridoshas enables practitioners to treat each person according to their unique constitution.

One method Yoga For Everyone's approach is to reconnect each Thai Yoga Therapy posture with its tridoshic composition. The rhythm and intensity of each pose is guided by Ayurvedic principles of constitution: slow and gentle for vata, nonvigorous and relaxing for pitta, energetic and fiery for kapha. Every time a person is brought into a yoga posture one or all of the doshas is activated. A recipient’s energy can be balanced by applying postures of the opposite nature that will strengthen his/her weaker dosha(s); for example, for a fast-paced nervous vata type the practitioner would apply slow, gentle soothing postures.
